About the 1838 Cherokee Claims

In 1838, the citizens of the 8 districts of the Cherokee Nation were forced from their homes by the federal government in the Indian Removal Act.  Prior to the migration to Indian Territory, these citizens made legal claims against the United States Government.  These claims are found below in this interactive database.
