Personally came before me Jack Winn of the Cherokee Nation East and solemnly affirms that the above is a just account of money which was fraudulently taken from him by whitemen citizens of the United States by the names of William Lay and John Nailer of Cherokee County Georgia claimant states that the above said William Lay did actually forge against claimant an account for one hundred and fifty dollars and said Willaim did carry said account to New Echota Georgia, there the place for transacting businesses for the Cherokee Nation of Indians by the commissions of the United States that said William did collect from said commissions from claimants valuation for improvements the above mentioned and stated sums of money (150.00) which was fraudulently done and was unjust and untrue and claimant states that he never had any dealings whatsoever with the said William Lay and that he never did owe a cent to Lay in his life claimant further states that about 3 years past he was taken prisoner by a set of whitemen in which the above said John Nailer appeared to be principal among them and that said John did hold him in custody for several days and without cause or provocation and did cause claimant to pay the sum 16.00 in money for expenses while in custody before claimant could be released from the custody of said John which sum of money claimant states that he did actually pay to said John Nailer and the above amount of money against the United States are just and true to the best of his knowledge and belief
