Personally came before me Jack Winn and Bark Chicken of the Cherokee Nation east and solemnly affirmed that they met two white men citizens of the United States near the Shallowford on the Chattahoochee River about 13 years ago in the winter season of the year and they were riding of the above described horses and they knew said horses and man and knew to belong to claimant and that they went on the next day morning and informed claimant about his horses and they set out to see if they could overtake those whitemen and went as far as the Shallowford and traced them to that place but could not find what course they took after, crossing the river the names of the white men not known by us we met them on a trail leading direct from where the claimant lived at that time and when we met the men we went directly on to claimant’s house to inform of the facts we went with claimant to where we met the horses and men but could not trace them any further than the ford on the river and we believe that the price is a reasonable one for they were very good horses and mares – witnesses know nothing more
